Introduction
The purpose of this module is to develop a basic understanding of sustainability education through an exploration of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Additionally, the module includes an examination of North Carolina’s Global Ready Schools initiative, which aims to advance global education across the state. Learners will analyze one global sustainability issue and conduct a Root Cause Analysis using a Systems Thinking research design.
Assessment Activity
Complete a Root Cause Analysis graphic organizer. The assessment will guide learners through a Systems Thinking research design as they explore a global-sustainability challenge of their choice and think deeply about the root causes of the issue. After identifying the root causes of the identified global issue, students will reflect on the local impact of that issue.
