Equitable and Culturally Responsive Quantitative Data Analysis (ECRQDA)

Summary: The purpose of the Equitable and Culturally Responsive Quantitative Data Analysis module is to introduce and discuss ways that educators analyze quantitative data to be responsive to the needs of learners. The module introduces learners to the Civil Rights Data Collection and equips undergraduate students— especially those who are preservice teachers—with quantitative data analysis skills to make informed and equitable instructional decisions. Learners complete a quantitative analysis research memo activity as part of the module.

Global Competencies

Summary: The Purpose of the Global Competencies module is to equip undergraduate students and preservice teachers with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to understand and address local and global as well as intercultural concerns. It examines issues and challenges through a glocal lens. This module fosters the global perspectives needed to serve students in a multicultural society and feel connected to a globalized world. 

Students will also reflect on and explain the value of global competencies. 

Systems Thinking Research Design to Support Global Readiness (STRDSGR)

Summary: The purpose of the Systems Thinking Research Design to Support Global Readiness module is to prepare undergraduate students to utilize systems thinking research to educate themselves and others on global issues in the local context. The module also discusses the purpose of North Carolina’s Global-Ready Schools program and the Global-Ready Educator Digital Badge program. Learners will complete systems thinking activity to analyze how global challenges have local implications.

Research as Inquiry

Summary:  The purpose of the Research as Inquiry module is to introduce and define the features of research as a systematic inquiry. The module is anchored in the Inquiry Processing Cycle to help support the learners to begin the process of research with basic research skills like writing a research memo and conducting a literature review. This module equips undergraduate students and preservice teachers with basic research and inquiry skills. Learners will complete a literature review type activity and create a research poster.
